Acne-Adult skin problem
Everyone loves gazing at the mirror, appreciating one’s looks. But, for a large number of people across the countries, the mirror turns out to be their biggest enemy. And the main reason causing this problem is acne. Well, there are various types of acne that surface on our skin, but the adult acne problem is something that haunts every single individual suffering from it.
With the growing age, skin problems like acne also start bursting out on the face which not just affects our looks but also breaks our confidence to look flawless. But what we need to understand is that acne is a very common problem which can also be controlled if we understand its basic cause. Thus, before staring up with the innumerable numbers of medications to control it, it is better that we most primarily understand the cause of acne.
Cause:
It is a belief that although acne cannot be cured, it can surely be treated well, to prevent the further outbreaks. The best known way to prevent acnes is to prevent the conditions under which they occur. Thus it gets most primarily important to know the basic reason why you have acne.
- Acne is caused for a combination of factors that occur in the layer of skin just below our face and not for any specific reason such as the food you eat or the number of times you wash your face, etc.
- Near about 2-3 weeks before an acne actually turns out on the surface of the skin, a small blemish initiates on the skin surface. It all starts from the sebaceous hair follicles, which are also called the hair follicles or the pores. The sebaceous glands deep within the skin produce the sebum (the oil which moistens our skin). But, as the old cells of the skin die and the skin renews itself, the dead cells mix up with the natural oil to slough the pores. In the normal conditions, the dead cells are removed to give the needed space to the new cells to create the new skin.
- It is this sloughing phase that differs in all people, giving rise to acne in different forms and times. In some people, the dead cells shed evenly while in many others, an uneven shedding is seen. This uneven shedding gives rise to the stickiness on the face. It is also this uneven sloughing that causes the cells to clump together forming plug on the pores which then leads to the trapping of the sebum and the bacteria in the follicles.
- This trapped follicle then swells with the continual formation of oil on the face from the other follicles.
- Finally, after a time period of about 2-3 weeks, a pimple arises on the skin surface. Thus, its not an overnight process that surfaces on our skin in a few hours.
- The uneven shedding of the dead cells is sometimes caused due to a hormonal imbalance which may be genetic in nature.
- Thus, hormonal imbalances, extra sebum, follicle fallout, high amount of bacteria, inflammation, are the basic reasons that cause acne.
