arthritis-treatment• Grandmother treatment: The warm water treatment is given. We have seen by taking warm water bath also the person feel relaxed similarly when pain is there warmth is required which can be given through warm water.

• Wax Treatment: The wax is melted and that is then applied on the affected area it gives warmth which gives relief from the pain. Wax is used to give warmth as it does not cool down very fast.

• Infrared ray treatment: Previously this treatment was given. These rays penetrate deep into the body and gently elevate the surface body temperature.

• Surgery:

1. Osteotomy: Osteotomy(Osteo= bone and otomy=removal) is one method to relieve pain in arthritis, especially of the hip and knee.

2. Arthroplasty: Formation of joint is called as arthroplasty.

3. Viscosupplements: The injections are given directly into the knees, this are the most painful injection and has to be taken thrice in a year and are very costly.

The option of surgery for the arthritic patient is very painful. They undergo surgery only if the pain is unbearable.

• Non Steroidal Anti inflammatory Drug’s (NSAID’s): It relieves from the pain and inflammation.

COX 1 Inhibitior: The COX inhibitor cannot be given to the ulcer, renal impairment and hemophiliac patients.
COX 2 Inhibitors: They selectively inhibit the COX 2 which may lead to cardiovascular disease.

• Ayurvedic cream and tablets: it relieves from the pain. Ayurvedic cream gives topical effect by acting as rubefacient(when rubbed it increases the microblood circulation), counter irritant, analgesic, and anti inflammatory.

• Chondrotin Sulphate: It helps in regeneration of the cells. The stdies have shown that chondritin sulphate does not helps in the regeneration of the cells.

• Glucosamine: It helps in rebuilding the proteoglycans and collagen. But it cannot be given to a diabetic person. But subsequent studies have shown that glucosamine does not aid in treating arthritis.

• Chiropractic care: The procedure which helps in treating the problems related to musculo skeletol system.

• PT (Physiotherapy) and OT (Occupational Therapy): Here the patients are asked for daily exercises. Splints and braces are given for the support.

• DMARD’s Disease modifying Anti Rheumatic Drug’s: Affects biological measures such haemoglobin and autoantibody levels. It also reduces the rate of damage to bone and cartilage.
