Types of Arthritis
• Osteoarthritis: Osteo means bones and arthritis means inflammation of joint. It is also called as Degenerative joint disease.
Osteoarthritis is the main cause of the disability it mainly occurs in knee and hip joints.

In normal joint, we can see that the cartilage is healthy and is lined by synovium membrane. The synovium membrane secrets the synovial fluid
The following are three major function of synovial fluid;
1. It acts as a lubricant: It reduces the friction between two bones and help in smooth motion.
2. Act as a shock absorbent: When the person jumps, run etc the bones may dash each other but because of synovial fluid it becomes thick and avoid dashing of the bones.
3. And act as nutrient carrier: The synovial fluid is full of nutrients so it washes the cartilage and provides the nutrients so exercise is necessary.
While in case of osteoarthritis, the cartilage get damaged and followed by it the inflammation occurs. The cause of osteoarthritis is unknown but ageing plays a major role. The cartilage get thinned and because of which the synovium membrane is affected which reduces the secretion of synovial fluid. The spur formation of the bones start taking place in order to avoid the dashing of bones.
• Rheumatoid Arthritis: it is an inflammatory form of arthritis which is characterized by the disorder in synovium memebrane.
In case of Rheumatoid arthritis first the inflammation occurs and followed by it the damage of cartilage. Rheumatoid arthritis is caused due to autoimmune disease.
Autoimmunity: It means the body’s defense mechanism fight against our own body cell. The cause is not yet known or still in debate.
The pain in case of this arthritis is sudden and severe.
• Pseudogout: It means false gout. The crystals of Calcium pyrophosphate or hydroxyapatite deposits in this form of arthritis.
• Gout: In this form of arthritis the deposition of monosodium urate takes place. The deposition of the crystals takes place in cartilage of joints, tendons and surrounding tissues. Gout results from a combination of extended increase of uric acid and largely acidity in the bloodstream. In isolation, neither elevated uric acid nor acidity is adequate to cause gout.
• Ankylosing Spondilyitis: It is again an inflammatory form of arthritis. It affects the spine and sacroilium. The spinal cord as well as the pelvic bone et affected.
• Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis:Is the most common form of determined arthritis in children.
• Systemic lupus erythematosus: It is a prototypical inflammatory arthritis. It is a connective tissue disease can affect any part of the body.
• Fibromyalgia: It is the pain in the soft tissue. Fibro means fibrous tissue and Myo means muscles it is the pain of soft tissue and muscles.
Hey Nice article! I found this one when I was searching out google for different arthritis types!
Yup, couldn’t agree more. And I’d like to add that you’ve got a great colour scheme on your site, I suffer with colour blindness and many webmasters don’t give us a second thought!
