Risks:

In our body, there are various reasons that cause the sudden increase in the level of uric acid in our body. Some of these factors or reasons include:

• Lifestyle: Every person has a different habit and thus a different lifestyle. However, one common reason is the consumption of alcohol. Higher consumption of alcohol increases the risk of the disease.

There are two basic tests that help you diagnose the disease well. These tests are:

Joint Fluid Test: A needle is used to extract the fluid from your affected joints to ensure if you are actually suffering from the disease or not.

Blood test: A blood test where the uric acid level is checked can also be performed to check if you are suffering from the disease.

Treatment:

Medications based on the symptoms of gout are the basic treatment for gout disease. Some of the most commonly prescribed medicines include:

• Colchicine: Colchicine is known to control the disease very effectively. However, it may cause certain side effects like diarrhea, vomiting and nausea.
• Steroids: Drugs such as prednisone can easily control the disease and its high inflammatory pain occurring in the joints. However, you can take in steroids in the form of simple pills or can even in the form of liquid that can be injected into the joints. However, taking in steroids as a medication for gout can cause certain side effects such as thinning of the bones, lower immunity to fight diseases etc.
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs: NSAIDs are the best way to control the high inflammation in the body joints. It is inclusive of other simple options such as medicines like ibuprofen like Motrin, Advil, etc. and naproxen like Aleve, etc.

Causes:

Gout is mainly caused when the urate crystals formed in our body simply accumulate in the joints. This accumulation causes intense pain and inflammation in the affected area which we term as a gout attack. A higher level of uric acid in the body blood causes the formation of urate crystals in the body. Basically, our body either produces too much uric acid or happens to excrete very little uric acid as a result of which the uric acid in the blood forms the needle like urate crystals in the joint regions causing unbearable pain not only in the joints but also in the surrounding tissues.
