The cells multiply and divide according to the body’s need but sometime it may happen that the cells starts dividing abnormally, creating a mass of excess tissue called a tumor. Tumors can be malignant means cancerous or benign means non cancerous.

The malignant tissues cells can invade the nearby tissue and organs. The malignant tissue may break and the cancerous cells released travel through the bloodstream or lymphatic system to form further new tumors in other parts of the body.

Types of cancer:
There are around 200 different types of cancer. Most cancers are named for the organ or type of cell in which they begin. But there are some other cases like where cancer cells spread (metastasize) from their original location to another part of the body, the new tumor has the same kind of abnormal cells and the same name as the primary tumor. For example, if lung cancer spreads to the skin, the cancer cells in the skin are actually lung cancer cells. The disease is called metastatic lung cancer (it is not melanoma).
We will go through some of the common cancers:

•	Lung cancer: The name itself suggests that the cancer in lungs is called as lung cancer. Mostly the deaths in men and women are due to lung cancer. The major risk factor for lung cancer is cigarette smoking or passive smoking.

•	Brain cancer: Brain cancer, or a primary brain tumor, is a cancer that begins in the tissues of the brain. It is also a leading cause of death for peoples. It rarely spreads to other parts of body. But if not treated the symptoms starts worsening over time.

•	Breast cancer: It is a disease in which the cancerous cells form in the tissues of breast. The aging, gene mutation and heredity may be the risk factor for causing breast cancer.

•	Skin cancer: The cancerous cells multiply in skin and causes skin cancer.

Two major groups:
1.	Melanoma
2.	Nonmelanoma
•	Leukemia: This cancer begins in blood forming tissues of the body, bone marrow. The children’s are more prone to leukemia.

Causes of Cancer:
It may cause due to eating tobacco or by smoking cigarettes. It may affect mouth, lungs, kidney and digestive system. The other cause is obesity so physical activities should be continued. Genetics also play a big role in cancer development. Unsafe sex, sun exposure, and environmental factors are some of the other causes of cancer. Major signs and symptoms are unusual lumps, pain, poor appetite, fatigue, ulceration, sweating, weight loss, hair loss and many more.

Treatment for cancer:
The conventional or traditional therapy options include chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, hormone therapy and immunotherapy. Other alternative therapies are acupuncture, acupressure, yoga, meditation, massage etc.
